hi in this video we are going to learn
how to do this split screen effect with
two and even four separate video clips
running at the same time they also call
it a picture-in-picture effect hi
welcome to sharing your passion calm
this is chill and let's get it on okay
so here we are at DaVinci Resolve 16s
edit page and I have four Clips here
because I'll eventually use four clips
to make the four split screens but let's
start with making just a double split
screen just to split screens so I did
some initial preparation by just adding
four video timelines you all you have to
do is just right click and add a track
and also in the bottom for audio you
could just right click and add a track
stereo let's start with doing a double
split screen to split screens to videos
case so let's drag which is um this is
the main one I'm using this as the main
clip because it has the music I want to
run the four clips you don't want to run
four audios right so you pick the one
audio that you like so this is the one
and let me drag another one let's bring
in this to the video too
okay so now I have two videos tack upon
each other but of course because this is
above this it's going to show this video
clip here so now we have to resize these
clips down to 50% so one can occupy this
side and the other can occupy that side
make sure this is selected video one
over in the inspector we have the video
tab and let's set the zoom to 0.5 that's
50% and of course we can't see video 1
because video 2 is above it so let's
just black out this video too
by clicking that now we can see video 1
and this is now 50% so let's try
this video over to the left I'm just
clicking the position X and dragging the
mouse to the left until I hit the edge
okay got the edge it's a negative 480
pixels okay and that's where we want it
so now let's resize the other one so
let's copy the changes we made to this
clip by just having the selected ctrl C
to copy or you can do right click and
copy let's reactivate the video to by
untag lling this this is video 2 now we
can right click this video clip and
paste attributes so we're pasting the
zoom and the position okay so that's
under here under video attributes we
don't really need to pay attention to
all of these just just as long as the
position and the zoom are checked we're
good so see that now that took the 50%
zoom and the position over here but we
want this over here we wanted to copy
the attributes to have the exact same
zoom and the same level the same
horizontal level now we're just going to
move it slide it over to the right okay
so let's make sure this is highlighted
now we can start sliding this over I'm
dragging this to the right the position
X to the right 480 positive here this
one was negative 480
so that's because that's my resolution
and now we have the split screen and
let's run it and play
okay so now we have a dual split-screen
okay next let's do a quadruple split
screen for Clips running at the same
time okay okay I've deleted everything
in this timeline so I can restart again
and work on our four quadruple
split-screen my main video which will
have the music is this I'll put it on
video one move this to video 2 this to
video 3 and just to video 4 and you can
disable the music for the rest of the
audios except audio one so disable that
disable video audio 3 audio 1 is still
enabled so because they're stacked
together at fullscreen this one
dominates the rest so whatever you have
on top is going to show but since
they're all fullscreen this one is
covering the other 3 so the trick so of
course a trick is to resize each of
these videos down to 50% that will give
us 4 areas where we can move these
videos over to each corner so all of
them are going to get the 50% zoom and
what's going to take time is for me to
reposition all 4 in those corners so
I'll probably just skip that step or
speed through it so they're now all
point 5 are 50% zoomed in and there's a
when you reduce it to 0.5 you can fit
four on each corner ok and so now I'll
do the task of positioning each one to
their proper spot
okay I've repositioned them and let's
play it in full-screen
[Music]
[Music]
so there we go that's how you do split
screens double and quadruple
