in this DaVinci Resolve lesson we are
going to fix a problem where you are
able to blur only one image or video and
not to others this problem was quite
perplexing because I've used the blur
effect in the collar page many times
with no trouble but I recently ran into
this problem and the fix is quite simple
let's do it
[Music]
okay so this is the project I was
working on when I ran into this problem
and this has many layers seven video
tracks so a lot of things going on okay
so for example I want to blur this
section right here so I would go to the
color tab this is the window make sure
it's highlighted and click the square
okay position that where you need to
blur okay that's fine
then click the blur tool right here
raise the radius all the way up and
nothing is blurring this area should be
blurring right now so that's a problem
whatever was in the square normally will
blur when you raise the radius all the
way but it's not happening it took me
like an hour to figure this out the
problem is because the timeline is not
loaded here so you can't see what's
selected we have multiple layers here
there's this video layer this image
track this other image track and we have
your text track so a lot of layers going
on and because a timeline is not open
here we're missing some information now
I see it again see nothing's blurring
over here everything should be blurring
within that square but over here that
blurs so that is strange that only one
item is blurring and nothing else so the
problem is this color page loads like
this without the timeline showing and
what we're missing is knowing what layer
or track we are on so the problem is you
can't see the timeline it's not loaded
here every time you go into the color
page this timeline is not activated so
you don't see it so we're missing some
crucial information so if you click this
now you see all the tracks all the
layers and what's highlighted here in
the red outline is what's activated and
that is that image the tic-tock logo
image that's the image that's activated
right now and that's what
getting the blur and when you go to the
other layers it's not affecting it so
you can only blur one track at a time
you can't select more than two items
here that means I need to select a
proper track that I needed to blur I
think I believe this is a track we need
to blur right here this is the video
track this is the proper track we want
to blur this is the specific segment
that I am introducing the blur on so now
I have the proper track selected the
proper segment now I can turn off the
timeline here so I can see a bigger
image and then let's add a square okay
now let's place the square on top of the
area you want to blur click the blur
icon here raise the radius and there you
go now I can blur this section here so
the problem is DaVinci Resolve in the
color page can only blur one layer at a
time and by default when you go in here
you're not sure which which track is
active so you have to turn on the
timeline look for your item that you
want to add the blurring to select it
and add your blur and that's how you fix
that problem here we are in the full
page viewer and the items I wanted learn
are blurred now and that's it thanks
