I'm going to show you how to install

think tick tock was just for the youth
you know preteens too early twenty year
olds I thought it was just a fun dancing
and lip synching app and from the sample
of videos I saw it yeah it wasn't for me
but then when I heard it cross the 1
billion mark whether it's active users
or the number of times it was installed
I had to check it out and do my due
diligence I try to teach people how to
use current technology and media in
their business to make more money so it
made sense to look into it since there's
a billion people on it already
and growing fast so I installed it
practically a month ago early 2020 and I
was pretty blown away it's not just for
kids it's kind of an easy-to-use
mishmash of YouTube Instagram and
Twitter and it gives you a lot of tools
to create interesting short videos not
just related to singing and dancing but
for anything like cooking do-it-yourself
education business marketing news
entertainment pretty much everything
even the who the World Health
Organization uses it some of the videos
you see right after you install it will
be on the sillier side because it
doesn't know what your interests are but
it gets better after using it because it
needs to know your interests before it
starts serving up things that you like
so let's go ahead and install it since
I'm on Android let's go to Google Play
and enter tick tock and let's install
you can see it has a 4.6 star rating
with 500 plus million downloads it's now
probably over a billion it's gonna take
maybe a minute or two because it's 54 of
megabytes and I'll just skip to the end
and it's installed and we're opening it
now it opens this for you page and it
gives you a random video simply swipe up
to get to the next video yeah you get
all kinds of stuff you know dancing
lip-syncing
silliness here's a talking dog okay
that's a quick look at what the app
looks like when you first open it but
you can't do too much except view videos
to do other things you need to register
for an account to register I reloaded
tik-tok and I got this page click the
sign up and you can do it with your
phone email Facebook Google Twitter and
Instagram and I'm using my email set
your birthday doesn't have to be exact
but pretty close okay and then you can
enter your phone number next are going
to send you a code set a password once
your account is created they will show
you a video right away now that you're
registered you can engage with people
you can like videos you can follow
people and they can follow you and you
can upload your videos so you need it to
register to do all these things by doing
so the system will also know what you
like and will serve you the things that
are in your category and it'll reduce
the amount of what is not related to
what you're interested in like really
silly videos now let's change some of
the basics settings on the lower right
click the Me button takes you to this
page username is a whole set of numbers
and that's the first thing you want to
change you want to reserve your name if
it's still available let's click that
edit profile button in the middle and
click manage my account let's change our
user name user names can contain only
letters numbers underscores and periods
changing your name will also change your
profile link okay type in your name okay
so it says you can change your user name
only every 30 days so be careful about
that and now can change your name also
for bio you can put something about
yourself and also your website or your
channel or your other social media
accounts it's similar to Instagram where
people discover you more when they visit
your bio or profile you only give you 80
characters for your bio and now let's
change the photo click it you can take a
photo or select on gallery I'm using
something from my gallery you have to
give it access to your phone you have to
scroll to find the photo you want and
select it okay I'll just go with this
you can kind of crop it zoom in zoom out
and save alright so that's the most
basic way to set up your tik-tok account
now you're ready to explore and engage
in the funny exciting informative world
of tick-tock and maybe you can also use
