How to Copy Attributes / Properties from 1 Clip to Another – DaVinci Resolve

hi in this video we are going to learn

how to do a trick that can save you lots

of time and hassle the trick is copying

the attributes the properties or the

changes that you made to one clip and

quickly applying it to one or more other

clips hi welcome to sharing your passion

calm this is chill and let's get it on

okay here we are in the Vinci resolve

16s edit page and I have multiple cuts

to this clip okay so let's make a change

to one clip the first clip here let's

say we want to zoom in so we bring this

zoom drag it to the right to zoom okay

and then we want to change the position

so change your position X to dragging it

left and watch out for the edge of the

video there it is the blacks the black

section let's bring that back there

okay so we're now zoomed in I'll just

zoom in a little bit more and then we

want to also change the speed of this

just slow it down a little bit let's

slow it down

about 25% go to change clip speed and

bring this to 75% and make sure the

ripple sequence is checked so it moves

the other Clips over because this is

going to grow this clip 25% longer

change

okay see how it grew okay so now when we

play this we are zoomed in and to the

right and people are biking 25% slower

alright but now I have all these other

clips which have maintained their you

know zoom of one meaning it's just the

same it's the original zoom the position

is back to centre

all of these are defaulted to whatever

they came in what if we wanted to apply

the attributes the changes we made to

this clip to all of these that would be

a pain to go find the actual values see

that 1.93

for zoom and position negative 628 and

to go through all of these and apply it

that would be a real pain oh my gosh

but the venturi resolve has a great way

to handle that the shortcut is to copy

and paste the attributes of one clip to

the other clips and here's how to do it

first step is we need to do a copy here

you can do ctrl C for copy or you can

right-click and do a copy here same

thing ctrl C copy now select the clips

you want to apply these attributes let's

say I wanted to apply it to four of

these clips this one I'm going to hold

down the control button to add to this

selection control is pressed and now I

left click this clip add this clip and

this clip that's how you select multiple

clips and now to paste the attributes

from this one to these four right click

somewhere in the four selected clips and

just do a paste attributes which is also

alt V it brings up this window and these

are the things that you can copy there's

video attributes and there's audio

attributes you can also copy

audio volume and equalizer settings and

retime effects what I did here to this

one clip is change video attributes I

change the zoom and I change the

position right there and I also change

the speed and that's under re time

effects so let's click this we're so

we're selecting all the video attributes

and retime effects is checked but I need

to check this ripple sequence to apply

that 25% slowdown of the the clip which

will push these other ones longer

okay so let's apply it okay so you saw

how all these clips got longer that's

because the the timing sequence was

changed to make it slowed down by 25% so

it's added time okay let's just check if

the attributes were copied so let's

click this and yep the zoom changed

let's click this clip yes the zoom and

position has changed so the this last

one should also be changed but this one

should maintain the zero once I click

that it never changed because the

attributes were not applied to this clip

and further on that's how you quickly

save time instead of going back and

forth changing the zoom changing the

position changing this the timing clip

duration you could just do it in one

step and that's it that's how you copy

attributes from one clip to another clip

or to multiple Clips
