Install Hitfilm Express Make 1st Video in 10 Minutes

in this lesson we are going to install

one of the best free video editors and

create our first simple video using

hitfilm express let's do it

let's go get hitfilm let's go to Google

hitfilm click the link here's their web

page scroll down 4 point 8 million

downloads and Counting keep scrolling

until you see this hitfilm express free

click the download button and there's a

slider here where you can drag it to the

left so you can have the free version

then click the download button fill out

your quick information here and it'll

send you an email check your email and

you will be given the download button

click that and now you can choose which

one is for you Mac or Windows - windows

save it run it and it will install

accept the license agreement and I just

choose typical installation so install

and just fast-forward the installation

process it's ready to go start it up ok

so this is what it looks like when you

first launch hitfilm express you get

this window here about activate and

unlock get a free license view help I

thought I already signed up so this

should be free right so I click out of

this and let's start you will do 1080p

full-hd you have to adjust the duration

here ok I'm only going to make a 2

minute video but it's kind of annoying

can I just enter 2 minutes let's just

try to enter 2 minutes right here

okay so this brings up the main

dashboard or the main control center

this looks like a timeline normal

timeline media it's where you bring in

your your files effects and some

controls history this is the viewer okay

let's try to make a quick video here

okay so to bring in my files I guess I

can click here import browse to where my

files are here it is and let's see let's

see if I just click open will it select

everything here oh I have to select

everything I guess okay okay so that

brought it in that's pretty easy so

that's what we're making we're making a

simple video with video footage and

audio and a couple of pictures simple

okay okay let's drag this one as the

first item okay the editor sequence

settings differ to this clip you are

editing and it's click that to not show

that again can I just drag this over

okay I can drag that over and let me

bring my photo in there this is just a

picture of me with the captain mr.

Morgan let me bring in my future boat

and then I'll drag the first video back

over to connect it and bring this person

here and bring the sunset over so let's

play this from the beginning here we go

start play that was about five seconds

for that photo by default I'm sure you

can change that another five seconds

goes into the video first video as much

as I'd love to keep the Billy ocean

music I think that is copyrighted so

I'll have to replace the audio with

something else which I do have and it's

over here it's the sound of steel drums

okay I can drop it down to and replace

all those

video/audio okay okay so did that did

not replace the last bit let me just

bring in the time line over here and

just cut that off I don't know how to

cut looks like if I drag this over down

here it will only export only the files

that are within this active area this is

not active so it will not export this

section so let's begin this from the

start

okay so it looks decent so let's just

export this there's an export little

button here okay here we go

it's rendering we have a preview and

that doesn't look good it looks like

it's adding some kind of huge watermark

on my video okay it's done and let's

check it out it's right here

I'm lowering the volume here so you can

hear me it pretty much exported your

video with this huge watermark you hear

that that's a piano type key playing as

a audio watermark that's pretty

disappointing we we went through all the

installation and we signed up and yet we

get this huge watermark that it's not

good it's not good when you consider the

other products out there that are free

and without water marks and no BS audio

marks so let's try to figure this out

I'm sure there's a way to get rid of

these without pain let's figure it out

we're back into our hit fill and Express

dashboard after her that disappointing

export with all that watermark BS what I

want to do first is save what I created

and I'll just save it as my first

project faella okay now I'm going to

exit out of the program and get back

into it

okay I'm relaunching hitfilm express I

still get this that thing will not go

away unless you do something and just

clicking away from it will bring it back

up and it'll keep all the watermarks

whenever you exports so you got to do

something here that's what we're

figuring out so activate an unlock that

almost sounds like I paid for something

but I didn't so let's get a free license

let's click here and all it does is just

go to the home page the makers of

hitfilm look at all these people are

downloading it right now

four million eight hundred thousand

something they're gonna be in for a

shocker with all that watermark stuff I

thought I just clicked on get free

license and I'm in this page I don't

know what to do work how do I get my

free license from this page it's not

obvious you guys hitfilm guys you guys

got a up your game people are getting

lost in your process of signing up and

registering and making this work make it

easier

I'm starting to get upset here but I

gotta make this work trying to figure it

and email I used to download the

software to begin with so you have to

note exactly what you used in the

little window is gone the window with

activation and get free license and get

help now that's gone go back to that

first project that I showed you earlier

and try to re export that and see if the

watermarks are there so I can just start

again and re-export this by clicking

down here already go alright it looks

like there's no watermark here so this

has got potential now it's done let's

check it out here it is let's open it

these are my static photos with the

music now it goes into one of the videos

it looks fine there's no watermark

there's no audio mark with a piano key

going on every like five seconds so

that's it it looks like hitfilm express

you know just wants you to make sure

you're logged in with your email and

password before they allow you to do

stuff without the watermarks okay so in

conclusion there's some good potential

here with hitfilm express the free

version just as long as you are patient

enough to navigate the annoying

installation process and figuring out

how to remove the watermarks you'll be

able to create videos we still have to

review the other features that come with

the free version and also compare with

my favorite free video editor the great

DaVinci Resolve so stay tuned for that
